Message from the Hertz Chairman and CEO, Mark P. Frissora:
Since our founding in 1918, Hertz has had a tradition of innovation and industry leadership. The list of Hertz industry firsts is almost endless and includes being the first rental car company to install in-car navigation systems, in 1995, and, most recently, the first to introduce full-service video kiosks.
Sustainability is also a key part of our innovation tradition and is another way we create value for our company, customers, and communities. In fact, sustainability is part of our daily life at Hertz—it’s become a business management tool, as well as a mechanism to protect the environment and provide community benefits. Accounting for and managing environmental and social performance, alongside financial performance, strengthen our business model and help ensure the long-term success and viability of Hertz.
The Hertz Living Journey represents our global commitment and strategy to integrate sustainability throughout our organization, operations, products, and services. We are striving to become a global leader in sustainability and smart mobility solutions, and we’ve already made a lot of progress. We are providing customers greener, more convenient rental choices, such as electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrids, and minimizing the environmental footprint of our operations through efficiency and resource management. We are also giving back to communities through philanthropy and volunteer efforts. While we have made tremendous progress, our parallel commitment to continuous improvement means that we will never stop innovating and advancing our sustainability efforts.
We are proud to provide you an overview, through this website, of our current sustainability efforts. The highlights include two other industry firsts: Hertz was the first car rental company to rent EVs and the first to install solar panels at many of its U.S. rental locations. We also recognize that sustainability is a journey, a long-term process of improvement, and that there are always opportunities to do more. As such, we are working to expand the scope of our sustainability program around reporting, supplier management, and employee engagement.
Above all, we hope our sustainability efforts will provide value to our stakeholders and help ensure the long-term health and productivity of the communities we serve. Equally important, it’s another good reason we can all take pride in working for Hertz.
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Hertz and our sustainability initiatives.
